Interior Minister Sar Kheng praised the kingdom’s security forces for their work during the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia, noting that their vigilance had ensured no major incidents took place.

In a May 18 letter to National Police chief Neth Savoeun, the head of the security committee for the Cambodia SEA Games Organising Committee (CAMSOC), Kheng offered his appreciation to the forces for their hard work and commitment to doing a professional job. They paid close attention to their roles, and achieved great results, he noted.

“Their excellent results are not only a source of pride for Cambodia, but an outstanding achievement for the Kingdom’s law enforcement officers, who protected peace, stability and public order,” he said, singling Savoeun out for special praise.

He added that the success of the games was born from the vision and leadership of Prime Minister Hun Sen.

“This safe atmosphere of the games played a large role in contributing to the strengthening of friendship, unity, and cooperation in the ASEAN region, through the spirit of sport. It also demonstrated the maturity of the Kingdom, which has shown it has the ability to guarantee the safety of the public during large national and international events,” he continued.

Sar Kheng also thanked the foreign nations that had cooperated with the Kingdom’s law enforcement officials to share their experience of hosting similar events in the past, naming China and Vietnam.

Sar Theth, Phnom Penh municipal police chief, also praised the officers under his command for their work during the games, which were held in the Kingdom after a 64 year wait.
