The SEA Games torch relay arrived in Phnom Penh on the evening of April 28 and is expected in the provinces surrounding the Tonle Sap Lake on April 29.

The torch relay runners made their way to Stung Treng province from Laos on April 27 and continued on to Phnom Penh on the morning of April 28. The torch relay passed through Kratie, Tbong Khmum and Kampong Cham provinces along the way.

On the evening of April 28, Prime Minister Hun Sen took to social media with an appeal to the public regarding their comportment during the torch relay and all subsequent SEA Games events.

“Brothers and sisters, please encourage our national athletes in a gentle, dignified, moral, ethical and orderly manner in order to uplift the national profile of Cambodia as the host country,” he said.

Minister of National Defence Tea Banh, who also heads the Cambodia SEA Games Organising Committee (CAMSOC), said at an April 28 press conference that Cambodia has fully prepared everything necessary for the hosting of a smooth and successful 32nd SEA Games and 12th ASEAN Para Games.
